Bengaluru, Jan 17: After the grand success of the inaugural edition of the Grand Prix Badminton League (GPBL), Bitsport, the promoting company of GPBL will be conducting the Republic Day Cup badminton tournament for veterans on Jan 21-22 at the Level Up Academy.
“As a part of our commitment to promote badminton throughout the year, we are pleased to host a veterans event to coincide with the fervour of the Republic Day. The veterans event will have a touch of GPBL format,” said Prashanth Reddy, CEO Bitsport and League Commissioner, GPBL. “We want to experiment with a 2-day event and based on the participation and interest, we will upgrade this event into a full- fledged franchise-based Veterans GPBL by next year,” he added.
The two-day event will be played in three age categories above-40, above-45 and above-50 in both the men’s and women’s sections respectively. The participants will compete in singles, doubles and mixed doubles events.
A special event for media persons will also be held.
