Speaking at the event, Venkatesh Prasad expressed his excitement about the tournament’s return to Hubballi.
“We are very excited about the second phase of the tournament taking place in Hubballi. We’ve already seen the fantastic organisation of the Ranji Trophy Final here. It was praised from all quarters — be it the BCCI, the players, the Karnataka players, the Jammu & Kashmir players, or the President of the BCCI. Hubballi is such a place; whatever responsibility you give it, I think Hubballi does it exceptionally well,” he said.
He also spoke on the appointment of KSCA Managing Committee Member Avinash Vaidya as Manager of the Indian team for the tour of Ireland and England.
“It’s a matter of great pride for us at KSCA and he is truly deserving of it,” Prasad said.
Venkatesh Prasad spoke about KSCA’s plans to further strengthen cricketing infrastructure across the state, revealing that the association is working towards upgrading facilities in Bengaluru, Mysuru and Hubballi with LED floodlights. He noted that the initiative forms part of KSCA’s continued efforts to enhance venues and provide improved playing conditions and spectator experiences.
The fifth edition of the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 will be played from June 20 to July 12 across Mysuru, Hubballi and Bengaluru. Hubballi will host 12 matches from June 27 to July 3 as six franchises — Coastal Kings Mangaluru, Gulbarga Mystics, Hubli Tigers, Kalyani Bengaluru Blasters, Mysore Warriors and Shivamogga Yodhas — compete for the coveted title.
