





Bavarian delegation to India: A delegation from the Bavarian Parliament, led by Speaker Ilse Aigner, met with a representative from Karnataka to discuss strengthening collaboration between the two regions.

A delegation led by Ilse Aigner, Speaker of the Parliament of the State of Bavaria, Germany, paid a courtesy call on Dr. Shalini Rajneesh, Chief Secretary of the Government of Karnataka, on Monday (Nov. 17) and discussed the development projects of the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Shalini Rajneesh, Chief Secretary to the Government of Karnataka, explained the qualitative changes brought about by the “Guarantee” schemes implemented two years ago by the state of Karnataka, which is at the forefront of development in terms of a good parliamentary system.
The Chief Minister has implemented the guarantee scheme without any discrimination and especially keeping in mind the empowerment of women. The government is providing Rs 2000 every month to the female heads of 1.2 crore families in the state.
Women have been provided free bus travel through the Shakti Yojana. This has led to a 30% increase in female employment in two years.
200 units of free electricity are being provided through the Grihajyothi scheme, which is helpful for daily household chores and students’ studies. The family’s savings rate has also increased.
Apart from this, free food grains are being provided under the Annabhagya scheme. This has helped in eliminating malnutrition among women and children.
Under the Yuvanidhi scheme, an allowance is being provided for two years. This is facilitating skill development as well as getting a job of their choice.
Chief Secretary Dr. Shalini Rajneesh explained that the Yuvanidhi scheme is helping in skill development and self-employment in the state.

Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh said that the Karnataka government’s guarantee schemes aim to provide a dignified life to the poor by providing them with all the basic amenities.
Within two years of the implementation of these schemes, the per capita income of the states across the country has increased. The success of the guarantee shows that the money given to women is put to good use.
He said that women’s self-reliance contributes greatly to the overall progress of society.
Responding to a question from a member of the delegation, he said that apart from social security schemes, these five guarantee schemes have been implemented. Five research institutes have conducted studies on guarantee schemes and have identified positive developments as a result. Sharing information about guarantee schemes, the Chief Minister said that he has formulated schemes that prioritize the progress of the government and private sectors through the empowerment of women.
The Chief Secretary shared a booklet on K Hundred, which shows the transformation of stormwater drains in Bengaluru city into clean and green spaces, under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar.
He expressed happiness over the delegation participating in the Bangalore Tech Summit led by Deputy Chief Ministers to enable mutual cooperation in deep tech, manufacturing, research and development, etc., out of concern for the environment.
Dr. Shalini Rajneesh said that Karnataka will always join hands with the development projects of Bavaria. It will work together for sustainable development along with information technology.
The delegation discussed the parliamentary system, governance of local bodies, and women’s empowerment.
At the same time, souvenirs featuring traditional silver craftsmanship and items of beadwork and embroidery were presented to the President of the Bavarian Parliament as a memento.
Karnataka, which boasts the title of “One State, Many Worlds”, has immense potential for tourism. He invited the delegation to enjoy the splendor by touring not only Bangalore but the entire state next time.
He also advised them to visit the Kala Lok store located in Terminal 2 of the Bangalore International Airport to view Kaikusuri’s wonderful artworks.
