The technical capabilities of the Karnataka State Police Department have received great international recognition. The State Police Data Center has received the prestigious ISO/IEC 27001 certification for its excellent information security management system.
Karnataka Police is one of the first state police forces in the country to successfully establish and run such a dedicated data center for the purpose of implementing various departmental software and securely collecting, processing and managing data.
This data center is being professionally managed by a team of highly skilled officers and staff from the Department of Global Security and Technical Expertise.
The continuous and uninterrupted operation of this center reflects the strong internal technical capabilities of the department. This achievement confirms that the department’s information technology infrastructure, cyber security measures and data protection systems are in line with global standards.
Citizen-centric digital services Karnataka State Police Data Center securely hosts and manages important data related to the public and the department. The most important of them are:
Criminal Records and Police IT Systems CCTNS and ICJS AFIS Cyber Crime Information Systems KSP Mobile App and M-CCTNS Mobile App Smart E-Beat System are the key benefits of this certification.
Obtaining ISO/IEC 27001 certification will further strengthen the confidentiality, integrity and continuous availability of sensitive information and critical digital infrastructure, providing strong protection against cyber attacks and unauthorized access. It will increase information security, cyber resilience and the safety and privacy of citizens’ information.
Transparency and accountability will be brought into data management. International level security measures and best practices will be followed. Disaster recovery and business continuity preparedness will be strengthened. Public trust and confidence in digital police services will be enhanced.
This historic achievement has been possible due to the coordinated efforts of the technical team, data center officers and staff of the Police Computer Department, under the able guidance of Dr. M.A. Salim, Director General and Inspector General of Police, Karnataka State Police Department, an official release said.
