The One Station One Product program is being launched in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Railways and the National Livelihoods Campaign. The main objective of this project is to provide suitable opportunities for livelihood and skill development of local artisans, handloom weavers etc. Minister of Medical Education and Skill Development Department Dr. Sharanprakash R. Patil said.
He was speaking at the inauguration of One Station One Product Store by the Department of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood and National Livelihood Campaign at Cantonment Railway Station today.
He informed that the main objective of the National Livelihood Abhiyan is to reduce poverty in urban areas by providing financial assistance, skill development training, marketing facilities, etc. to women self help societies.
Providing market facilities for the spa-aid societies to display and sell their products helps in enhancing their economic activities and boosting their self-confidence. Handicrafts, artefacts and various locally manufactured products represent the importance of various arts representing the cultural history of Karnataka. He said that through the promotion of products manufactured by women’s self-help societies, sustainable livelihoods of artisans and entrepreneurs in the region will be encouraged.
Encouragement to participate in women’s self-help societies, productive, commercial programs and continuous skill improvement, product innovation and business knowledge will be developed. The Minister informed that currently Self Help Societies have shops with products in 09 railway stations of the state from the National Livelihood Campaign.
