Bengaluru, 3rd August 2019: Grant Thornton, B.PAC and LetsEndorse, in association with BBMP are conducted a Tree Plantation Drive called “Project Kalpataru” at the Byrasandra Kelagina Kere in Bengaluru. Smt. Shilpa Abhilash, BBMP Corporator of Ward 58, New Thippasandra was also presented at the event has extended support and help for the project.
Over 120 saplings were planted with enthusiastic participation from 60+ employee volunteers from Grant Thornton.
The proposed site for the Tree Planation drive is at the Byrasandra Kelagina Kere that is in the midst of Bagmane Tech Park. “Project Kalpataru” was envisioned to help to keep up the Byrasandra Kelagina Kere area and ensure the surrounding area can be used until the complete rejuvenation of the lake takes place. We have worked along with the concerned authorities to ensure the survival of these 120 trees in the coming years.
Smt.Shilpa Abhilash, BBMP Corporator of Ward 58, New Thippasandra said “This is a wonderful initiative by Grant Thornton, B.PAC & LetsEndorse and really happy to see youngsters work for such a cause. What is really novel about this initiative is that they are not just planting saplings but are also taking the responsibility of taking care of them for a few years by watering, maintenance and giving manure. I also urge every Bengalurean to plant at least one tree every month and let us all pledge to increase the green cover in the city.”
Verne Bragg, Regional Managing Partner at Grant Thorton said “We are really excited about this collaborative initiative and hoping to increase the green cover in the city. We really want to be a part of the solution so we took up this initiative. We intend to grow bigger along with these saplings hence are taking the responsibility of nurturing them for the coming years.”
