Bengaluru: The ‘Mango and Jackfruit Mela-2026’ is scheduled to be held at Lalbagh Botanical Garden from June 4 to 30. The 27-day event is organised by the Karnataka State Mango Development Board and the Department of Horticulture.
To support the farmers, the board has given out 168 stalls for mango growers and 17 stalls for jackfruit farmers completely free of cost. Farmers from top growing areas like Kolar, Chikkaballapura, Bengaluru Rural, Tumakuru, Mandya, Koppal and Dharwad.
In Karnataka mango is cultivated over an area of approx. 1.45 lakh hectares, During the current season as well, due to adverse climatic conditions, the yield is expected to be low. The flowering process has been delayed, and the crop is harvested at different growth stages across regions.
“The mela aims to celebrate the rich heritage, diversity, nutritional value, and economic importance of mango and jackfruit cultivation in Karnataka and across India. Farmers and fruit lovers from various districts are expected to participate in this vibrant Mango and Jackfruit Mela-2026.”says B C Muddugangadhar,Chairman, Karnataka State Mango Development and Marketing Corporation Limited (KSMD&MCL).
Mallika variety mango will be the main attraction in this fair. Along with this, you can taste a variety of mangoes like Imam Pasand, Malagoa, Totapuri, Rasapuri, Redivari, Miyapaki Pesara here.
Customers will have to pay an entry fee. The entrance fee for adults is Rs 50. Vedamurthy, Managing Director of the corporation, said that 10 tonnes of mangoes are expected to be sold per day.
