ISKCON Bangalore Plans Grand Sri Krishna Janmashtami Celebrations

Srila Prabhupada’s ISKCON Bangalore has been celebrating Sri Krishna Janmashtami, the divine advent
of Lord Krishna, with great fervour and enthusiasm for more than four decades. Over these years, the
Janmashtami festivities have become an integral part of every home and family in the city. The
institution will observe the 5253rd holy appearance of Sri Krishna this year through vibrant spiritual
and cultural programmes for devotees of all age groups.
ISKCON Bangalore will celebrate Sri Krishna Janmashtami in all its temples between September 3 and
5, 2026. The devotees will offer various auspicious sevas and upacharas to the presiding Deities
according to Vedic tradition. These include elaborate abhishekas, aratis, chappan bhog, makhan misri
seva, pushpanjali seva, pallaki utsava and jhulan seva. Other activities such as Gou Puja, Koti Japa
Yagna, Gita Parayana, dance and music performances by popular artistes and shloka recitations by
children will be held throughout these days. A Krishna Costume Contest will be organised online where
parents can dress their tiny tots as Radha and Krishna and participate in the competition. There will
be extensive prasadam distribution for visitors in all the locations. A special expo chronicling the
remarkable life and achievements of ISKCON’s Founder- Acharya Srila Prabhupada will be set up.
The digital celebration Swagatam Krishna will be live-streamed on 4 Sep 2026 from 8:00 PM onwards.
This spiritually uplifting online event will feature devotional performances, enlightening talks, an
elaborate abhisheka, and arati. Online viewers can also participate in a live quiz contest and win
attractive gifts.
The Janmashtami event at KTPO will host From Your Kitchen to Krishna with Love, where 5253 food
items will be offered as naivedya. There will also be a Krishna Jamfest – Bhajan Jamming by Youth
Bands to engage the new generation in the festivities. Multi award-winning international artist Abby
V will enthral the audience with his exclusively curated devotional concert for the occasion
