From Efficiency to Intelligence: SupplyCon 2026 Reimagines the Future of Value Networks
Deliberations spotlight the shift from efficiency to resilience, visibility to intelligence, and enterprises to ecosystems, as India positions itself as a global supply chain powerhouse.
Bengaluru, 27 August 2026: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Karnataka successfully convened the CII Karnataka Supplycone 2026 under the theme “Supply Chains 2035: Building Intelligent, Sustainable and Resilient Value Networks” on 27 August 2026 at Bengaluru. The conference brought together distinguished industry leaders, supply chain professionals and experts to exchange insights on building resilient, agile and competitive supply chain networks for India.-
Mr K Krishna Chaitanya, IRTS, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Bengaluru Division, South West Railways, Karnataka gave the special address and said, “The next generation of supply chains is not only defined by physical infrastructure, but it is further defined by intelligence. AI is being actively used in the freight railways systems, but it can be further utilized to give credible estimated time of arrival (ETA) of the freight train to the customer and the probability of the timely arrival of their consignments at the port, reducing truck idling and ensuring throughput from the existing infrastructure, empty container management, efficient road-rail feeder coordination, and predicting scenarios of exigencies.”
Dr G Sambasiva Rao, Vice Chairman, CII Andhra Pradesh State Council & Managing Director, Sravan Shipping Services Pvt Ltd said, “As we work towards the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047, it is essential that our logistics sector — spanning air, sea, road, and rail — rises to global standards of competitiveness. India’s shipping services sector is a vital part of the country’s economic growth and global trade, with the majority of India’s international trade moving through maritime routes. Developing a strong domestic container shipping line, along with building indigenous container manufacturing capacity, is critical to reducing our dependence on foreign carriers and strengthening India’s competitiveness in global trade. This will require sustained collaboration across all stakeholders and an openness to new ways of thinking. We must also embrace innovation, technology and sustainable practices to strengthen our logistics ecosystem and enhance India’s position in global supply chains. By fostering stronger partnerships between government and industry, we can build a resilient, efficient and future-ready logistics sector that will be a key enabler of India’s growth story.”
Mr Murgendra Koujalagi, Director, Convenor CII Karnataka CPO Panel, and Global Head – Sourcing & Procurement – Automation, ABB Global Industries and Services Pvt Ltd, addressed the gathering and said: “Supply chains have evolved from being operational support functions into strategic drivers of business competitiveness, national resilience, and economic growth. As India progresses towards the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, autonomous supply chains will become a critical enabler of industrial growth, export competitiveness, sustainability, and inclusive economic development. It is imperative that the Government and the procurement and logistics sectors work unanimously for the upliftment of the sector. There is a need to create a common ground, and this unique platform would provide a meeting ground for all the relevant stakeholders to deliberate on issues of salience to help together form a Roadmap of Growth & Development in the Procurement and Logistics Sector in the state of Karnataka.”
Summing up the inaugural session, Mr Anil Patil, Co – Convenor, CII Karnataka CPO Panel & Sr. Vice President & Head – Procurement & Contracts, Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) said, “The next phase of supply chain excellence is not just about efficiency, but about building resilient, agile, and globally competitive supply networks. Today’s discussions will focus on emerging technologies, evolving policies, sustainability, leadership, and collaborative ecosystems that are shaping the future of supply chains.”
The conference brought together thought-provoking conversations on next-generation supply chain technologies, AI and digital twins, sustainability and decarbonisation, geopolitical risk management, and the road ahead for logistics innovation. Delegates highlighted the need for deeper collaboration between government and industry to speed up technology adoption, strengthen resilient and sustainable supply networks, and elevate India’s standing in global trade.
The conference witnessed participation from 100+ delegates representing manufacturing, logistics, technology, and sustainability.
