Shows, sport, mobility and music: the Mercedes-Benz Museum invites you to the big children’s and family day on Sunday, 7 July 2019, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (outside from 11 a.m.). With more than 25 attractions, the programme in and around the museum is broader than ever before. All entertainment is free of charge, a lot of which does not depend on the weather. And entry into the permanent exhibition is also free on this day. Just how popular the event is, is shown by the public appeal: 12,000 visitors came in 2018.
Stuttgart. Summer at the Mercedes-Benz Museum: including the big children’s and family day. This year, it is taking place on Sunday, 7 July 2019, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and offers more entertainment than ever before. More than 25 attractions for every age group from 3 to 99 years will inspire in and around the Mercedes-Benz Museum. Outside, the day starts at 11 a.m.. Entry is free, including into the permanent exhibition on this day.
In proper style, from 11 a.m., an historical Mercedes-Benz O 3500 bus from the 1950s will be providing transport, shuttling between the Schlossplatz in Stuttgart and the Museum. It will bring the visitors directly to the museum entrance and therefore right into the action.
Here, the guests will be welcomed and entertained by Äffle & Pferdle, VfB-Fritzle, Moki, Breuni Bear and Luftikus, as what would such a big children’s and family day be without these popular mascots? And what about the five giant balloons that can be seen from far and wide as bright spots of colour? All those who collect a stamp at every balloon station will receive a little surprise.
Mobility fun will be provided by MobileKids, the open-air driving course for children. A special thrill is offered by a ride on the “Iron Schöckl”: on the course, the legendary Mercedes-Benz G-Class (combined fuel consumption: 13.3-9.6 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 304-252 g/km*) demonstrates its outstanding climbing ability going up and downhill. The name harks back to the robust test track of the G-Class on the Hausberg Schöckl in Graz, Austria, where the classic off-roader is built. There will also be historical and new fire engines available to experience on the children’s and family day. Plus, there will of course be the fascinating classics at the non-brand-specific “Cars & Coffee” meeting. This event takes place every Sunday, up to and including 8 September 2019, at the Mercedes-Benz Museum.
Sporting agility is required at more than one station: Such as at the popular Tigerentenrodeo (tiger duck rodeo, famous German children’s literary character): Who can hold onto the wild tiger duck longest? The appropriately named “The Rock” has a seven-metre-tall climbing wall, on which you can climb right up to the heavens – whilst firmly secured, of course. VfB Stuttgart is arranging a goal-shooting contest, plus, with the VR headset, you can experience a home game as a 360-degree tour in virtual reality. Mountain bikers meet at the “Pump Track”, a race circuit with many challenges. Our youngest guests can enjoy ride-on cars at the racing parcours on the open-air stage.
And whoever is out of breath after so many activities can recover a little at our various shows. “Viola loves Cycling”, “Mister Piano Show” (joining in is allowed) and the “New York City Dance School” will be performing all day long in the atrium of the museum. Musical entertainment will be provided by bands such as Bent Bridges and Sonni Fäsh on the Antenne 1 radio station stage. The Follow Me Marching Band will be moving around the site all day.
There is plenty of opportunity to get creative at the “rocket car” and “electric motor” genius workshops as well as at the sand painting station. Tours for all age groups through the permanent exhibition of the Mercedes-Benz Museum will also be taking place throughout the day.
The children’s and family day is taking place on the fourth and final day of the Mercedes-Benz Concert Summer 2019 with these musicians:
