Bengaluru. July 20.2022-The State government has decided to bring a law to ensure power supply for every poor man who submits an application for power connection to his home, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said.
Speaking at a function to celebrate the 53rd Formation Day of Karnataka Power Corporation Bommai said, electricity is one of the essential services. Life is impossible without power connection. It is the duty of the government to provide electricity just like supply of drinking water. It is a right of the citizens. The state government intends to provide electricity for everyone. Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission has been instructed to issue an order in this regard.
43% of country’s Solar power being generated in Karnataka
Lauding the engineers and personnel of KPC for their service in meeting the power needs of the state, Bommai said, the state is producing about 30,000 MW of power, 43% of the country’s solar power is being generated in Karnataka.
Policy for energy storage units-Approval has been given to set up energy storage units at Sharavathi Power Station. A policy is being formulated to allow the private sector to set up energy storage units, Bommai said.
