Bangalore d. 20 (Karnataka News) :
Literacy plays an important role in community and economic development. Thawar Chand Gehlot, Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka opined that Purna Sakhasrata Abhiyan will lead to progress in the promotion of education in Karnataka and the country.
He was speaking on the occasion of “Poorna Saksharate” Education for All, Adult Literacy Program in Karnataka, organized in association with F KCCI, Rotary India Literacy Mission and Private School and Child Welfare Association.
The main reasons for the low literacy rate in the country are social, economic and educational conditions. Education plays an important role in the progress of the country. Everyone knows the importance of education. But even now illiterates need to be made aware of the importance of education. In 1991, I was a minister in the Madhya Pradesh government and MLA from Allot assembly constituency. My constituency was economically and educationally very backward, and then an 11-day padayatra was organized for literacy.
I have done many programs on my own initiative. Also, Nanoo also went to the villages and raised awareness of education among the village leaders, requested them to teach illiterate people and also implemented programs to educate illiterate adults.
In ancient times, our country held the position of world guru as it was a pioneer in the study of knowledge and science. A boost in education is needed to regain it. The new National Education Policy aims to make the future of our present and future generations bright and secure and to restore India’s cultural glory and make India a global knowledge power. It gives freedom to choose favorite subject along with study in mother tongue. He said that education in the mother tongue would increase the spread of education rapidly.
Dropout is a big problem in our country which needs more efforts to eliminate it. According to me, in order to increase the number of students, various organizations should come forward and try to adopt the students for education and adopt the village. Before moving on to the next class, the teacher should discuss the next goal of the students in the class. In this case, discuss the problems with the students and try to solve them and bring them to the attention of the government. He opined that by making this innovative effort, the problem faced by the students can be solved.
Participation of every citizen is very important if the total literacy program is to be successful. Central and state governments have implemented many programs for complete literacy. If these projects are to be successful, the public should join hands with the government and associations. He called for building Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat for New India.
Former President of Rotary International, Shekhar Mehta, President of FKCCI Gopal Reddy, National President of Private School and Child Welfare Association Syed Shamil Ahmed, Rotary District Governor Jitendra Anejaji, PSCWA State President Afshad Ahmed, Principal of Private School, National Executive Member Rajendra Rai etc. were present in the program. attended
