Bengaluru, June, 2019: SKF India today announced the launch of its Scholarship Program for Girls in Chamarajanagar and Chikkaballapura districts of Karnataka. This CSR initiative from SKF will provide financial assistance to 34 deserving girls from economically disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue professional education post class 10, which may not have been possible otherwise.
SKF Scholarship Program for girls was launched in 2017 in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra. In its first year itself, the program transformed lives of 40 meritorious girls who now have access to higher education and are working towards fulfilling their dreams. Till date, 80 girls have benefited from this scholarship program. This scholarship is now extended to the state of Karnataka, in the two regions which were selected based on an extensive need mapping exercise.
SKF Scholarship Program for girls covers partial educational expenses starting from class 11 and 12. For the extension of this scholarship through professional courses, the beneficiary girls need to reapply. Girls scoring more than 85% in 2019 class ten board examination, with a family income less than 1.5 Lakhs annually are eligible to apply for this scholarship. A multi-functional,unbiased, merit-based selection process awards scholarships to the deserving candidates.
