Bangalore, 10 November: India’s ace backstroker Srihari Nataraj of Bangalore Research Centre (BSRC) and Rhia Singh of Nettakallappa Aquatic Centre won the individual championships in the open category at the inaugural edition of the Nettakallappa Memorial Swimming Championships here on Sunday. Dolphin Aquatics, on the other hand, won the overall championship with 269 points while Pooja Aquatic finished second with 253 points and hosts Nettakallappa Aquatic Centre finished third in the overall point system.
Srihari won gold in 100m backstroke (58.11), 100m butterfly (56.47) and 100m freestyle (57.40) to bag the individual championship while Rhia bagged the top honours in 200m individual medley (2:53.47), 100m freestyle (1:11.65), 100m breast stroke (1:30.65) to claim the individual championship in the open category.
The other winners of the individual championship include Jatin B of BSRC in group 1 boys, R Akshay Shet of BSRC in group 2 boys, Renukacharya Hodmani of Dolphin Aquatics in group 3 boys and Monish PV of Pooja Aquatic Center in group 4 boys. Among the girls, Vidya Shree N of Vijaynagar Aquatic Centre was declared the individual champion in group 1, while Naisha Shetty of Dolphin Aquatics won in group 2, Vihitha Nayana of Pooja Aquatic Center won in group 3, and Dhinidhi desinghu of Dophin Aquatic was adjudged individual champion in group 4 girls.
