This 3D printed post office was built by Mr. Larson and Tutro Limited (L&T). IIT, Chennai has provided technical guidance to the Department of Posts in the current project, the building constructed using 3D technology has a total area of 1021 sq.ft, the building has been constructed as per the approved design, with the help of 3D concrete printing technology.
The process is a fully automated building construction technology in which the concrete layer is built step by step by a robotic printer. And quick hardening special grade concrete is used to ensure bond between layers. The construction of the building was completed in a period of 45 days, while conventional method of construction takes about 6 to 8 months. By saving construction cost and time, 3D concrete printing technology can be considered as a powerful alternative to traditional construction methods.
Union Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnav will inaugurate on August 18 at 8.30 am at Megaduta Hall on the 5th floor of GPO Building, Bangalore at 8.30 am on August 18, on behalf of the Indian Department of Posts, Karnataka Circle, at the newly constructed Cambridge Layout site in Bangalore.
