NASSCOM Foundation and Mphasis recognize the best Social Innovations in India – Provides INR 60 Lakhs in Grants

  • All the winners to receive additional industry mentorship worth over INR 20 lakhs

 Bengaluru, 6th November 2019: NASSCOM Foundation, in collaboration with industry leaders Mphasis, today announced the winners of the eleventh edition of the NASSCOM Social Innovation Forum (NSIF) – a platform that fosters innovative use of technology to create sustained social impact.

The announcement was made at the NASSCOM Product Conclave in Bengaluru.

NSIF – The Largest Social Innovation Honours in India, received over 1500 applications this year out of which, the winners were chosen after going through a rigorous two-level jury shortlist process in the categories of Education, Accessibility, Healthcare, Financial Inclusion, Environment, and other socially relevant areas.

With support from Mphasis, the Forum will award total catalytic grants of INR 60 Lakhs to seven of the winning innovations across all categories.

All the winners will also be provided with a twelve-month ‘Support to Scale’ mentoring from experts and leaders in the industry worth over INR 20 lakhs.

The winners of NASSCOM Social Innovation Forum 2019 are:

Education *Meraki Foundation Meraki upskills low income parents to act early and unleash child’s potential
Accessibility *Inali Foundation Inali Arm- A myo electric prosthetic arm

 

Healthcare *PadCare Labs Pvt. Ltd. Sanicure: Sanitary napkin disposal and recycling solution
Financial Inclusion *MHS City Lab Digital Tools for quality & affordable low-income housing

 

Environment *Watsan Envirotech Pvt. Ltd. A device that purifies water, based on gravity filtration made through clay based nano pore medium
  *Bombay Bijlee Smart energy harvesting, storage & delivery device which can be remotely monitored and controlled to make clean energy affordable to rural households in India

 

Other Social issues *Anukai Solutions Pvt. Ltd. InteLights- Artificial intelligence-based traffic management system.

 

Not on Map NotOnMap creates livelihood for millions of culturally rich hidden communities across India by restoring dying heritage and connecting with travellers.

 

* The winners who will be receiving INR 10 Lakhs each as catalytic grants.

*There is a special recognition for 2 organizations, who will be receiving INR 5 Lakhs each as catalytic grant.

The jury that selected the winners comprised of many renowned industry leaders including Suresh Kumar, GE Healthcare, Srikanth Karra, Mphasis, Sanjeev Malhotra, NASSCOM COE IOT, Nirupama, Wells Fargo, Vikas Sarda, Unitus Capital, and Neelam Ganesh, Social Alpha.

 Mphasis has been a long-term supporter of ‘enabling Technology for social good’. Commenting on the occasion, Srikanth Karra, Chief Human Resources Officer, Mphasis, said, “We have been associated with NSIF for the past five years and have witnessed high-quality innovations that are truly inspiring. Through this innovative platform, we hope to create a spark in the social ecosystem by creating sustainable impact. We would like to congratulate all the winners and are proud to support them as they continue to create pragmatic social impact”.

 Reflecting on another successful culmination to the NASSCOM Social Innovation Forum, Ashok Pamidi, CEO, NASSCOM Foundation, said, “NSIF has been the cornerstone of Tech4Good in India. It has seen ideas take shape into industries, people change to adapt to new innovative technologies, and technologies create impact to change economies. Growing from strength to strength, NSIF today is an ecosystem of 2200+ social innovations, awarded 90+ social innovation projects, helped mentor 30+ innovations through its support to scale program and already given over INR 1.5 Crore in catalytic grants. This is just a start and we hope that we continue to inspire the development of innovations to fulfil our goal of transforming India, bit by bit. We are glad to share this dream with our long-standing partners Mphasis and would like to thank them for all the support they have given us”.

Talking about this year’s entries and the winners he added, “It is great to see that social innovators are not shying away from the new technologies but instead are embracing them. Most of the entries we received this year were using new-age technologies like the Internet of Things, wearables, predictive analysis, and self-learning algorithms. Each chosen winning innovation today has a promise to create a countrywide sustainable impact and we hope that NSIF can help them make this happen.”

  Through the collaborative force of social impact through ICT created in the last 11 years by NASSCOM Social Innovation Forum, NASSCOM Foundation hopes to add momentum to the technology wave across the country.
