The Department of Agriculture and agriculture related universities have the mission to respond immediately to the agricultural problems of the farmers. In this regard training programs are being organized continuously at the local level. Online training program has been continued during covid-19. If the agricultural problems of the farmers at the state level are identified from time to time and continuous online training programs are conducted, the problems can be solved quickly besides saving money and time. Sameti (South), Agricultural University, Bangalore and Sameti (North) Agricultural University, Dharwad are launching an innovative series of State Level Farmers Agricultural Problems and Solutions. Togari is grown mainly in Kaluburgi, Vijayapur, Yadgiri, Raichur, Bidar, Bangalore (rural) and Chitradurga districts. Togari is grown in an area of 16.64 lakh hectares in the state. The most important disease that comes to Togari is soragu disease or nettle disease. Last year (2022-23), the disease affected an area of about 0.78 lakh hectares in Kaluburgi and Vijayapur districts, known as Togarikanja. This year also the sown Togari crop is suffering from sorgu disease. Keeping this in mind and as a precautionary measure, the Department of Agriculture, Sameti (South), Agricultural University, Bangalore and Sameti (North) Agricultural University, Dharwad jointly launched a new initiative on 19-07-2023 (Wednesday) from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm for the first time at the state level online.
A training program has also been conducted. 3 thousand togari growers and extension workers can participate at a time.
