Honorable Dr. President of the Republic of Maldives. Mohammad Muijju and First Lady Mrs. Sajida Mohammad and their delegation arrived at Bangalore Kempegowda International Airport today by a special flight from New Delhi for a visit to Bangalore.
The Honorable President of the Republic of Maldives was welcomed by the Minister of Higher Education of the State, Dr. M.C. Sudhakar warmly welcomed.
On this occasion the Chief Secretary to the Government Dr. Shalini Rajneesh, India Maldives High Commissioner Munu Mahawar, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms Secretary Satyavathy G., Bangalore City Police Commissioner B. Dayananda, Bangalore Rural District District Collector Dr. N. Sivashankar and dignitaries and senior officers were present.
Maldives President Mohammad Muijju and First Lady Sajida Mohammad visited Raj Bhavan – Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah extended a warm welcome.

Hon’ble President of Maldives Dr. who is visiting India. Mohammed Muijju and First Lady Sajida Mohammed arrived in Bangalore today and paid a cordial visit to the Raj Bhavan in Karnataka.
Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka Thawar Chand Gehlot and Hon’ble Chief Minister Siddaramaiah met the President of Maldives Dr. Mohammed Muijju and First Lady Sajida Mohammed warmly welcomed him with a bouquet of flowers.
Welcoming the guests from Maldives, Hon’ble Governor said that stimulating meetings and courtesy visits of Hon’ble President of Maldives with Hon’ble President, Hon’ble Vice President and Hon’ble Prime Minister have further strengthened the cordial relationship between the people of our two countries on bilateral relations.
Maldives is an important partner and close friend and neighbor of India in the Indian Ocean region, with centuries-old cultural, economic, trade and people-to-people ties. Maldives has a prominent place in India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ and ‘Sagar Vision’ policies. The signing of the currency swap facility demonstrates the Government’s strong commitment to our friendly relations with the Maldives. In recent times, expansion of air connectivity and visa facilities have brought us closer to each other. Happy to know that RuPay Card has been launched in Maldives.
There have been discussions about opening an Indian consulate in Maldives Addu and a Maldivian consulate in Bangalore. We are confident that this matter will be implemented soon. This will help Indians to visit Maldives and attract more tourists. Inauguration of projects and several MoUs during your visit, excellence, reflects our strong development partnership – which is our foundation. It is the mainstay of bilateral relations. Honorable President, development, cooperation, capacity building, trade and commerce, India-Maldives relations will provide further strength, the Governor said.
It is a pleasure to have a business delegation with the President of Maldives. Bangalore is the IT hub of India. We are confident that your interaction with the business community in Bangalore will further strengthen our economic and commercial relations. Dear Sirs, Thank you very much for visiting India and sharing your ideas to strengthen our bilateral relations. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that he was happy to know that the delegation of Maldives led by the President and First Lady of Maldives visited Bangalore and that the First Lady of Maldives was a student in Bangalore. It is understood that the government of Maldives is interested in partnering with the leading IT industry in Bangalore. He informed that Bangalore is known as the Silicon Valley of India and has developed an ecosystem for start-ups, artificial intelligence, global capacity building centers and an innovation hub.
We are excited to facilitate the growth of IT industry in Maldives. We would like to have business relations with Maldives to promote our handicrafts and handlooms market to reach the large number of tourists visiting Maldives. Karnataka is known for its natural diversity, culture and rich heritage. Our poet Kuvempu called Karnataka “the garden of peace of all races”. Our Tourism Tagline – “One Kingdom, Many Worlds”. Apart from nearly 300 km of coastline, we have the second largest Shola forest in the world with tiger and bird sanctuaries. We look forward to partnering with Maldives to promote educational and cultural exchange,” the Chief Minister said.
Maldives President Dr. Mohammad Muijju said, I would like to thank the Honorable President and Prime Minister for inviting me to visit India. Also, I would like to express my gratitude to the Governor and the Chief Minister for their warm welcome and hospitality in Bangalore. It is a great pleasure to have visited the famous state of Karnataka in India, especially Bangalore. Maldivian students are studying in Karnataka. He said that cooperation will be given in tourism development.
