A real program to expose the sufferings of farmers: Agriculture University Chancellor Dr. S.V. Suresh

In collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and the Agricultural University, Doordarshan Chandana Channel has organized a farmers’ ‘reality show’ program in a different and innovative way. The program will be broadcast every Saturday night from April 18 at 6 to 7 pm, said Bangalore Agricultural University Vice Chancellor Dr. S.V. Suresh.
Speaking at a press conference at the Bangalore Press Club, he said that this series titled “Raitha Ratna” will be aired on Chandana channel in 26 episodes. This program to introduce the successful farmers of the country can be said to be the first attempt in the history of TV channels. So far, many types of reality shows have been aired. But this one related to agriculture, especially the farmer himself, will come and sit on the hot seat and speak in front of invited viewers. There is no doubt that this will win the hearts of the Kannada people, he said.
Unique agricultural activities, things invented by the farmer himself, impressions shared by the farmer’s family members, relatives, friends, and local people will add zest to the program. Every week, a selected model farmer, family members of a farmer woman, and comrades will be invited to shed light on the background and background of the farmer. This is not a TRP-based program. It is a real series that exposes the hardships of farmers. He said that this is a constructive program that gives importance to agriculture at a time when the youth group is moving away from agriculture in search of employment and villages are becoming old age homes.
H.N. Aarti, Head of the Program Department of Chandana Channel, said that this is a new concept smart program that will have a positive impact on the society. In this harvest series, integrated agriculture, organic agriculture, natural agriculture, as well as successful farmer gentlemen and women who have done different types of agriculture will be introduced. He said that the specialty of the program is the stage setting with agriculture-related activities, all species of animals, birds, many agricultural products.
Hanumanthu, Deputy Director General of Chandana Channel, said that the program has reached the conceptual, design, implementation and final stages of its development and is finally ready for broadcast. He said that steps have been taken to take this program to a new dimension not only on Doordarshan but also on social media.
Program host H.N. Gopinath said, “The Farmers’ Reality Show is different, unique and innovative. Now, in the first phase, 26 special episodes of farmers will be aired. Out of these, three will be selected for the Farmers’ Award.”
