A public interest petition was filed before the Hon’ble High Court of Karnataka regarding providing burial grounds to various communities in Karnataka. The High Court of Karnataka had directed the Government to ensure providing lands for the purpose of the burial grounds. Subsequently, Civil Contempt has been filed in the Hon’ble High Court. In Court proceedings, the Government represented by the Revenue Secretary has submitted that the State Government will give vide paper publication throughout the State inviting the General public to inform whether there is burial ground in their town village or not and after collecting the information, Government will take necessary steps to provide burial ground to all the villages in the State of Karnataka. Besides, the Hon’ble High Court has directed the Member Secretary, Karnataka State Legal Services Authority to get data/statistics from all the Taluks and District Legal Service Authorities throughout the State to ensure that no village is left out without burial ground
The Karnataka State Minorities Commission hereby appeal to all the communities such as Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Jains and Buddhists to send proposals/requests seeking allotment of lands for the purpose of burial grounds in their towns and villages before 31″ of March 2023 to Secretary to Government, Revenue Department, MS Building, Bangalore, Deputy Commissioners of the concerned Districts ,The Tahsildars of the concerned Taluks and Member Secretary, Karnataka State Legal Services Authority of the Concerned Districts says Official Press Release.
