The state government has been understanding people’s problems and responding to it. This year, a maximum amountbhas been earmarked for the health sector, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
Speaking at a function organised to upgrade the government to 250 beds here on Sunday, he said the 100 bed hospital is being upgraded. Earlier it was 50 bed hospital and utbwas upgraded to 100 beds in 2008-2009. Now, this hospital has 14 doctors and equipped with ICU, NICU and dialysis. As the population has increased, the hospital is now upgraded to 250 beds.
” We have not only increased the number of beds also also made the necessary arrangements. The upgraded hospital will serve the shiggaon people for the next 10 to 20 years. This taluk hospital has all the facilities on par with district hospital and it will provide the necessary healthcare to poor and nerdy people. Our government has given the maximum amount to the health sector in current budget. Plans are in the pipeline to have 100 bed hospitals in taluks depending upon the population. We have already upgraded 100 primary health centres as the Community Health Centres and also opened 60 PHC centres”.
Bommai said the government is starting 12 new cancer centres in the State. From this month onwards, they are opening 437 Namma Clinics to enable people to visit and take treatment for the minor ailments. One crore Ayushman Cards are being distributed and this is a record. A foundation stone for the Hubballi Hospital in coordination with the Jayadeva institute will be laid next month. The Kidwai cancer Hospital is starting it’s unit in Belagavi.
The CM said a new ayurvedic hospital will be started in Savanur this year and he will come and lay the foundation stone for the same in the next two weeks. The construction of a medical College in Haveri is going on and the government aims to start the college by February-March next year. A new 400 bed hospital is coming up in Haveri and it will be converted into a super speciality hospital.
Shiggaon to grow as a big skill development centre: CM Bommai

The Government Tool room and Training Centre will be established in Shiggaon taluk soon. A foundation stone will be laid for this modernised training centre in many technologies. Through this, this taluk will be developed as a biggest skill development training centre, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
Speaking after inaugurating a new bus depot of Shiggaon in Haveri division of NWKRTC and laying foundation stone for the new driving and technical training centre here on Sunday, he said it was a decade old wish to have a bus depot for Shiggaon and even there was problem regarding the land. Now it has been sorted out and the centre is being established at a cost of Rs 28 crore. The bus depot was required in the wake of development of the surrounding places.
The CM said Shiggaon has the best ITI college and Bankapura has a polytechnic college. Along with this, a training centre is being opened . His plan is to set up a technology based training centre in Shiggaon taluk. Even private players are interested to open the skill development centres here and the government is ready to provide all the facilities. Efforts are being made to bring JCB company’s training to Shiggaon. If it comes here, the youth could undergo training. Talks are on to bring the automobile industries here. Soon, a 350 MPLS capacity ethanol manufacturing unit will start functioning and it will benefit farmers.
The CM directed the authorities of NWKRTC to formulate a special plan to provide the bus facility to school students. The government has plans to start the buses for the school kids in private partnership and it will be launched statewide and launch will be from Shiggaon town. Through this, a pilot project of providing the bus facility for the school kids in time will be launched.
